Fruit Infused Water

A big glass pitcher full of ice + cold water + lemon is the best way to cool down on a hot summer day. I keep two glass pitchers of flavoured water in my fridge. One full of lemon + one with an alternate flavour. Never having tasted soft drink in his young life, my toddler thinks that water infused with strawberries is a treat - especially if it is mineral water!

It is easy to make natural flavoured water - so easy that you will be wondering why you have not been treating yourself to this little luxury everyday.

1. Buy a glass pitcher jug - please avoid plastic pitchers, same as plastic water bottles plastic chemicals can leach into your water. Alternatively, you can go with a a stainless pitcher. If you buy stainless steel make sure it is 18/8 Food Grade otherwise it contains some pretty nasty chemicals. I personally prefer glass.

2. Fill with water.

3. Chop up your favourite fruit to add to the water.

Some flavour suggestions are:
  • Lemon - my favourite
  • Lime + Lemon
  • Orange
  • Strawberries
  • Watermelon
  • Cucumber

4. Pop in the fridge.

How Long Do You Keep The Fruit in the Water?

We go through 6 pitchers a day so I keep the same cut up fruit in the pitcher all day long. If the flavour is strawberry or watermelon my toddler will want that added to his cup so these need more frequent top ups.

Each night I discard the fruit and add fresh fruit for the next morning. I do know that some people keep the fruit in the water for up to three days but I personally find it loses some flavour but it is up to to you how often you want to change it up.

Drink Natural Fresh Flavoured Water On The Go.

My toddler + I are on the go all day, I always make sure that both he + I never leave the house without two water bottles filled with fresh cold lemon water.

I use a glass water bottle for myself in aqua by Pete Evans Ecobud [I did have the below black one but my husband has now claimed it as his]

For my toddler I use a 100% Plastic Free Sippy Cup with a  plastic free straw. The bottle is in stainless steel 18/8 food grade. The straw is 100% plastic free as well so I don't need to worry about plastic leaching into his water!

I hope I have inspired you to dust off one of your old glass pitchers, fill it with water, lemon + ice. Oh + if you really want a lovely refreshing experience drink you water out of a mason jar with an ever so chic stainless steel straw. My personal favourite ones of all time are these bent ones by Ever Eco [I mean even the packaging is gorgeous!]
